Slightly different situation for me, I became a US PR in June 2008 and was resident in the UK prior to that date. My tax return had to be paper filed also for this reason (declaring UK income).

Thanks everyone - was considering it so that I could still get things from places that only ship to the UK, didn't realise that RM forwarding would still allow that to happen. Great stuff!

Say you had a phone contract in the UK that you were unable to end when you moved to the USA due to the terms of that contract. If you, having permanently moved to the USA, perhaps "forgot" to pay...

Thanks, and this is something else noted on the form I should have mentioned yes - Citizenship is affected if you refuse to register.

Putting it in to context as well, as a British Citizen I would...

We submitted our I864 in mid-April and I found out my interview&medical date about a month later I believe. It seemed quite quick between the two, certainly.

We're both relatively young (22 & 24) and have no suitable assets unfortunately.
