Having been through the process myself of getting a 457 and applying for PR. We only needed to get x-rays done for the 457 but full meds are required for the PR.

My OH has had a job offer from Brisbane. The nomination and sponsorship have been approved. We have lodged the application for the 475 and, no, we haven't had to ask his current UK...

You could be right...things are changing all the time. We were originally going to apply on 457 then RSMS, our Immigration Agent told us we wouldn't have to have skills...

Can't help you with where to get the UK police checks but can tell you that you will need them, haven't got that far yet, only have my South African police checks thus far...
