Of friend of ours tried this approach but was offered a rediculous price, so had to decline offer. Obviously no one can afford to practically give their home away.

Have thought those problems through and wouldn't expect my daughter to stay put for us. She wouldn't think of it in any case, very headstrong. In anycase she has her own life to lead.

Was very worried about the housing market and just placed two houses on the market, both sold within a week both for just £1000 less than asking price. I was totally amazed. Things can't be as bad...
