Re: Mesa do Cume - Tavira

Such a shame. It looked like it was still being used, just like a "ghost restaurant". The scenery up there & around was still stunning even in this awful weather!

Mesa do Cume - Tavira

Does anyone know if this resto is still open at any time? We've just been up there having a little drive around (in the rain - again!) and although it's not open, tables are still set with...

Re: Buying an apartment

There are a few "established" apartment complexes in Cabanas that I think would be worth a look. We recently sold our apartment on Quinta da Gomeira (due to other personal circumstances) but it's a...

Re: Barclays Tavira Closing

We have used BES in Tavira for eight years and found their on-line English service very good. The staff in branch are also friendly and all speak excellent English. I would recommend them.

Re: Driving from Calais to Loule 2015

We've done the road trip quite a few times and favour the Rouen/Le Mans/Tours/Bordeaux/Salamanca/Seville route. We generally use the toll roads for ease of travelling and they're quiet.

Re: Golf courses in the Tavira/Cabanas area

A local person will probably jump in here and help - I'm not sure what sort of condition Quinta do Vale is in at the moment as I know they did have some financial/ownership difficulties recently. We...

Re: Golf courses in the Tavira/Cabanas area

Hi Ian. There are a lot to choose from. In the Tavira/Cabanas area I would suggest Benamor, Quinta da Cima, Quinta da Ria and for a splurge Monte Rei. These are all no more than 20 minutes drive...

Re: Fiscal Representative Advice

One way is to have a bank account where you can pay the IMI on line. That way, it avoids having to go in person and so long as you have the reference number for each bill, it's easy to pay with no...

Re: Tolls

Yep as Mike says, if you've prepaid in the UK, you can just drive straight through and it picks the toll up from your numberplate.

Re: Anyone moving back to UK? Selling British Taxed and Mot Van - May-June

LittleRosa - personally I think you're being a bit optimistic with just one stop for the trip if you have pets and a child. We've done the drive several times and, whilst we are starting in...

We've done the drive Sheffield to Tavira via Eurotunnel lots of times and even using motorways, we stop three times. It's a lot of driving otherwise even for two of us! (probably not so bad if you...

"Courier" Service to the UK

Does anyone know of a "man with van" that travels between the Tavira area and UK regularly who might be able to transport a small box of effects? We are in South Yorkshire.

Thanks.
