Probably spent about $150 / week in Canada. Minced beef at aldi was £1.75 for 500g so im not sure how that compares. I buy my burgers from the butchers because they're delicious if a little more...

As others have said try and save to take a long holiday, maybe stay in a cottage and live the british life for a while.... maybe even your Canadian wife might enjoy it. After 2 or 3 years in Canada...

Lovely post and updates. We too have returned to the North East, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else now. Big houses, cars and snowblowers don't make up for that feeling of home.

You should look into Icelandair if you haven't already, I found their one way fares a fraction of those on the likes of BA or AC, plus the fee for carriage of pets was also cheaper, I paid around...

Unlike in N.America where the authorities are apparantly happy to allow people to live in places like that shown on 'Tent City USA'. It must be a price worth paying for freedom and liberty I guess...
