Please be aware that you cannot claim the first time homeowners grant if you are on a 457 visa. At least one of the purchasers needs to be a permanent resident or an Australian citizen.

However, 2 major UK banks have now said that they cannot open a UK bank account for an Australian resident. They have both quoted the Australian Corporation Act 2004.

Not 100% sure but.......... I think that if the mortgage is held in joint names as 'Joint Tenants' i.e. 50/50 then you both have to be on the letting contract.
