It got even better today, as I tried to fax a letter asking again for specific guidance as to exactly what they wanted, to the number we had been given (to provide the secondary ID within 48 hours)...

Yep, they have all of that, and we have applied for VOS already. See my post above (think we crossed over) to show docs we enclosed for the kids. I even enclosed a copy of the VOS proof of payment...

So, they have:
Original passports (with shiny visa issued in London, IM1)
Current passports
Birth certificates
Copy of current PR card
Alberta Health Care cards
Five years of school reports...

Yes, they have all of those things, included with the application - full copy of birth certificates, all of their school reports for the entire five years they have lived...

Once they are over 12 we can apply for a provincial ID card - not routinely issued but you can apparently get one - so that would only take a few weeks, like a driver's license I imagine. For under...

Where are you finding that list?
The one on the page says:

Record of Landing/ Confirmation of PR
Provincial Driving License
Provincial photo ID
Student card (post secondary)
Income tax...

My husbands PR card renewal was here within 2 weeks (not urgent processing) but the two we sent for urgent processing (including proof of travel) have now been returned twice because of no 'secondary...

no sin or resident tax paid here for the four years we owned two different properties in canada (neither of which were our principal residence). canadian govt entirely happy to recognise our status...

That's interesting - essentially you have a choice, you can commute some of your pension and get a larger gratuity, or take smaller gratuity and get larger pension, so at least some of it is more...

If you move over to Canada in the summer and buy a house/ register for schools, open Bank accounts etc etc, even if you are being paid in the Uk and still serving, it...

the house he owns isn't a home, it's just an income generating property as far as he's concerned - his home is in the uk, where his wife and children reside and they both earn and go to school etc....

mardy - his wife has PR but is still not tax-resident. she's a tax resident of the uk, they both are. immigration status and tax status are completely different. they file non-res tax returns on...

no, if the house is rented out and he is currently filing a non-res tax retunr on it, he does not live in canada and neither does his wife or family, and they are still earning and paying uk tax when...
