Oooh, Hong Kong! Fabulous! My daughter lives in Laos where she teaches yoga and TEFL.....she loves it. There's something very special about that part of the world. I hope it all goes really well...

The "staff at the desks" have never had the authority to make decisions regarding a person's eligibilty for benefits. They are there to undertake the initial interview, gather information and pass it...

It's not that there aren't "many jobs around" it's that people are very picky and won't do this or won't do that. I tell you what, if we didn't have this so-called "safety net" they'd soon learn not...

My apologies for getting that wrong. What I meant was that although the same rules apply, individual circumstamces....cost of rent, number of dependants etc, will have an effect on the amount paid...

Actually I am neither smug nor high-minded, but angry with the negative attitude and a willingness to surrender to the UK saftey net. All too quickly it becomes a way of life rather than a temporary...
