before I wrote that i researched the process of each stage involved with a K1 visa. When i wrote that note I was generalising on what I was about to do and not so much the actual stage.

In case you want to know I had mine issued in 1979 and it's doing me good.

Okay I thought what if I entered on the VWP and as I hold an old style GC I decided to go and update my GC at the local application support center.

Would they not simply update my GC or again...

Didn't find it but no biggie.

Just going back to my post, I did read an article of some dude in a similar boat as I and he was talking about trying a different point of entry i.e. from Mexico....
