Re: Affordable Suburbs in Vancouver??

Of course, I agree with you entirely. We can also play golf, go skiing/ snowboarding and go sailing all on the same day on many days in the winter. Not too many places in the world where you can...

Re: job hunt

I totally agree with Almost Canadian. $100,000 a year should give you, conservatively over $4000 net a month. You only spend $400 a month on groceries for 5 people??!! That's less than $3 a day...

Re: Vancouver locations - any advice?

There's such a huge difference in the 3 areas you mention. Jervis Street is likely a highrise - right downtown, so very convenient if you plan to work in the downtown core, as no bridges to cross. ...

Re: Moved: Nelson, BC

I think Scotchic probably gave you most of the info you needed, but here's what our friends had to say. They moved up there just a year ago. They are both Canadian, in thier late 40's with 2 adult...

Re: Finding a place in Vancouver

I wasn't suggesting taking anything long term. I was suggesting that accomodation agencies like Bell offer short term, fully furnished accommodation for short term rentals - sure they placement fee...

Re: Finding a place in Vancouver

I looked at Bruce Ward and you'd pay $1100 a month to rent a studio on Cordova Street!!!!!????? Did you look at Bell Accommodation? Same sort of thing, but not at that price nor in that area. I...

Re: Thinking of Vancouver

I'm also new to this site,so hope I'm doing this right. In reply to your question about why more people seem to go to Saskatchewan and Manitoba, I suspect that finances have a lot to do with that. ...

Re: Moved: Nelson, BC

I think Nelson is one of the nicest towns in BC. But as with all things, there are some drawbacks that it's nice to be aware of. As I'm sure you know, very hot in summer, very cold in winter - but...

Re: Finding a place in Vancouver

Yes, as others have said, Craigslist is a great source, but with the market in Vancouver the way it is at the moment, I don't think any landlord would be bothered with the hassle of renting to an...

Re: Centerparks style resort at Vancouver

I know just what centreparks are and I totally agree with the person who said that the reason we don't have them in Vancouver is becasue it's become a fairly big city - so just as you won't find one...
