I had our savings in Nat West, Cahoot and B&B (About 50K in each). When we requested to change our address to Australia all three instructed us to close our account as they didnt support accounts...

Please dont get confused with any 'banking crisis'.. This was 100% caused by the UK Government and made alot worse by the Isle of Man government.

Do NOT under any circumstances have ANY money in the Isle of Man. In Oct 2008 thousands of Expats lost EVERYTHING (including myself).

You are dead right about the tax. The gain has to be taken into account when calculating your income. The better way would be to keep out of the Country until the rate gets better - however we have...

Dunno about that... EA's (good ones!) know how to 'sell' a house. We always made sure we were out of the way when EA came with buyers; mainly so we couldnt hear the bull and possibly say wrong...
