In Aus on a 457 but job contract ends next July. Wife and kids love it and would like to see if we can continue the life down under for a while yet. Dislike my job and seems unlikely they will...

Just found out I can get passport photos and docs signed by a professional before we leave and then lodge it once in Aus. for an extended passport.

We planned all along to rent out but found out last minute via some family friends that our propsective tgenants had loads of debts etc. . DOn't want that...

If we can afford it we have heard the lower north shore is good as there are plenty of expats and not too far from beaches and the CBD.

No house sale yet but in the local paper this week so...

Not sure they can do anything really. I was told 2-4 weeks but aparently Sydney processing has been a bit log jammed recently...might be better now?

I had to sweat it also as I finish work here...

I applied through Sydney. Medicals were received in first few days of June and got green light couple of days ago. So, all in all 5 weeks.

Arriving in August:thumbsup:

thats where I got to aswell.

The more I hear about the property bubble the more comfortable I feel it is right to sell and put the cash on deposit. If I stay away 2-3 years then I am only worse...

boy you do like numbers :D

Only thing I noticed is that for UK interest each spouse gets c£5.5k income tax free (personal allowance) so that covers most of the interest earned each year.

Grayling - On the UK side if you are on a 457 I thought that income earned outside Aus is not caught in the...

Decided did not want the stress of renting out our home so now looking to sell it and putting the cash in a bank account for the couple of years we are in Aus.

thanks for posting your reply from immigration dept. My meds should have been there at start of June but no response. Was fretting as I was supposed to leave by 26th July but Virgin all booked up...
