Re: citizenship documents

And another thing,

Last month my wallet was stolen with my passport inside, which had recently expired.

Hi All,

I'm eligible to apply for citizenship and can't decide from reading the website whether I need to get police checks done. I got the checks (UK and Aus) for my spouse visa, and haven't left...

Re: points on licence

I'm pretty sure it's only if you were convicted by a court that you have to declare. I had six points but my PCC came back clear.

Re: Partner temporary visa, what are the consequences if I sponsor my girlfriend?

I would also have a really good look at the DIAC site so you know exactly what you're going to have to do to get the visa - what documents and evidence. Then you'll have a better grasp of whether...

Re: Partner temporary visa, what are the consequences if I sponsor my girlfriend?

The partner visas are for couples who have very interdependent lives. If you are not both living as 'husband and wife' when you apply you'll be telling lots of lies to immigration and also to your...

Re: Citizenship Application Processing times - Brisbane

Pollyanna, I've just re-read that page and it seems much clearer than the first time! Looks like Brisbane processing times can be pretty quick. Feels like I'm on the home straight now...

Re: Citizenship Application Processing times - Brisbane

Thanks for the replies. I couldn't decide from reading the DIAC page but if there are people who've not had to get PCCs I may risk it.

Then again... there's a good financial reason why I'd like to...

Re: Citizenship Application Processing times - Brisbane

I'll soon be eligible for citizenship. I haven't left Aus since entering with my spouse 309 visa nearly four years ago.

Does anyone know if I still have to submit police certificates?

Thanks

Re: Why British wants to go Australia?

I am from Wales but have lived most of my life in Bristol, UK. I am very happy that I grew up in Bristol because of its diversity of culture. Bristol has a rich music/art/food/university life which...

Re: Why are Australian movies so crap?

My fave Aussie movie is

'The Shiralee' (1987)

It's great fun, emotionally charged and well directed. Very long but never boring. If I wanted to recommend one movie which portrays the best and...

Re: Partner Visa - Insufficient Evidence - Help!

I was very nervous, thinking my application was weak in several areas. We were lucky enough to get an appointment with our case officer to lodge the application. I noticed that she paid very close...

Re: Partner Visa - Insufficient Evidence - Help!

You could try to say more with some photos. Eight or so photos with captions, dates and locations can make all the difference. The general impression of your application is very important.

Re: spouse visa permanet waiting period

No there aren't and don't be put off by job adverts which state 'applicants must be Australian permanent residents' because HR departments generally don't know about the spouse visa process. They...

Re: 2nd stage spouse visa

Yes, the 2 year will still apply, and you automatically apply for the PR at the same time as the temp visa so no new application fee - just that you have to send in the new documents after the two...

Re: De facto second stage but unemployed

Hey, lots of people do contracts and have breaks in between. There's not so much job security these days. Maybe tell them you're a 'consultant'.. in between contracts.

I live in Deception Bay, about two minutes from the Bruce. It's an easier drive from here to Brisbane than from Redcliffe (fewer traffic lights). Deception bay covers a big area. Most people only...

Re: What's the origin of this word / phrase?

I always thought it was Styx, too.

When people said "oh they live right out in the sticks" I thought I was cultured, knowing it was Styx, not sticks.

Maybe it's confused with the river Styx...

Re: Free maths tuition from Mcdonalds

Well, you wouldn't have considered doing that if you didn't have good knowledge of maths.

Kids at school these days learn how to create models - power laws, exponentials, logistic and then remove...
