Based on his stated timeline they're not going to file for AOS after marrying in the US, just for I-130. So assuming that's what they stick to the advice was sound. Right?

There's an important point that hasn't been made yet, you cannot over stay the I-94W date in your passport even if you get married here in the US.

Greers of Elgin moved me to California, very very professional, and reasonable. They are based out of Keith. Can't recommend them highly enough.
