as I understand it, if you want to work in Canada before you get PR, you must have a work permit for the specific job you've been offered. The job must also be 'cleared' by the Canadian government...

we're Aug 05 AOR too and obviously not heard anything yet. Resigned to waiting at least 2 years for PR, but fortunately, we are able to go on a work permit exempt basis, which we are doing this July....

I guess with som,e small electrical items, they'll just operate at slower speeds/brightness with lower voltage eg: hairdryers?
