Re: Is Canada Dog Friendly?

You're welcome,
I would be careful about letting your dogs run loose, even in parks.
Skunks and racoons carry rabies and will often hide under fallen branches and in tree stumps when the disease...

Re: Election Predictions and Immigration

Conservatives undoubtedly would try and clamp down on non-white immigration. They're a very right wing party and multiculturalism is not part of their platform. The Canadian Conservatives have more...

Re: Customer Service

They don't do that because it would take too much time. Can you imagine how much other customers would complain?
I prefer to be 'ignored' in shops. That way I can actually look and think about what...

Re: Is Canada Dog Friendly?

Can't recommend a cheap option unfortunately.
Many rental apartments and houses will accept pets, at least all the ones I've rented did. We had cats and never had a problem.
High rises however...

Re: Britain isn't that bad

I sypathise, that is very unfair.
I'm not sure though why you think other countries would be any better.
In Ontario my wife was overlooked for jobs many times because she is

Britain isn't that bad

I really cannot understand why Brits think the UK is so bad, perhaps they don't realise that the grass isn't any greener abroad?

Re: Comparison Between Canada(US) and NZ,Australia(UK)

Pros of Emigrating to Canada...
1) Slower pace of life (not necessarily good for some people),
2) Lots of wilderness
3) Lots of wild animals
4) Gas is cheap
5) Cars are cheap
6) Property is...

Re: Cures for homesickness

Why is it bullshit?

I feel sorry for people who are homesick and in most cases I'd advise them to go home.

Re: Customer Service

Yes, I expect people to be polite, but that's it.
In North America it goes too far. I don't want to be called 'Sir', I don't want to be approached by shop assistants asking how my day is, I don't...

Re: Cures for homesickness

If you're happy with your new life, you shouldn't get homesick. It's as simple as that. Sure the feelings pass, but only because you start to forget the old life and learn to tolerate the new one....

Customer Service

Today when I went shopping in central London,
not one shop assistant said hello to me, or told me
about their current promotions and no-one tried to
get me to buy a stereo system that frankly I...

Re: Cost of Living, Canada Vs UK

All I'm saying is, you CAN get apartments cheaper than 600 if you wish, you'll just have to go to Luton or Slough to get them.

Re: Cost of Living, Canada Vs UK

I'm sorry but I really don't believe you.
Firstly $630 is VERY cheap for an apartment in Vancouver.
Secondly you can get apartments way cheaper than 600GBP a month, especially that far from London....

Re: Cost of Living, Canada Vs UK

Hi,

I think we'll have to agree to disagree, however I feel some of your figures are wildly off the mark.
$650 inclusive rent in Vancouver???????
I don't think so!
$650 is probably more like...

Re: Cost of Living, Canada Vs UK

We share the mortgage between ourselves, but even so it's very expensive.
We pay about 900 a month each on a 350k mortgage. A good 30% of our total income. It's a fairly large detatched house though.

Re: Cost of Living, Canada Vs UK

Thank You.
I do love it. I adore the people here and the sense of humour.
People tend to be very self-depricating and down to earth in Britain, something you rarely find anywhere else in the world.

Cost of Living, Canada Vs UK

As a Canadian living in the UK since 2000, I find the cost of living
to be a lot cheaper here than in Canada with one
exception.... property.

Most things seem to cost double in Canadian dollars...
