Quality of life is far less for me because I value travelling around - something you can't do from Calgary without spending a small fortune on expensive flights.

Calgary downtown is indeed dodgy after nightfall.

When I used to walk from my favourite pub back home at night, part of the trip took me along the river between Eau Claire and the Homeless Hilton....
