to get a clean cut, no questions asked RRV, you need to be in AU as a PR (ie. after you landed) for 2 years within 5 total; your time on student visa does not count, sorry

the o.p just entered in 2011 does not mean that their initial "enter by" date was in 2011, could have been in 2010 as you calculated back 5 years to grant date in 2009

i would guess it depends on the type of conviction - and how it was resolved - for instance i had a DWLS (American) misdemeanor B conviction - felony offenses are obviously a totally different...
