Default police certificate

Do the government or the company decide if you can have a visa if you have previous convictions? I have heard different things from people but just want it clarified.

Both may ask for it. DIAC require the information when deciding to grant the visa, but the company may also ask for it when offering you the job.

i would guess it depends on the type of conviction - and how it was resolved - for instance i had a DWLS (American) misdemeanor B conviction - felony offenses are obviously a totally different category

give as many details as possible and provide record of how the case went - then of course, the decision would be taken by the CO

best to read up in here
