Quick update for anyone interested. Looks like this has been the most bizarre week.

In the same week that our ENS has been referred to Canberra, we were also granted a CO for our original 175...

Not too sure about Canberra - a large proportion of the work there is government ad a significant amount of that will require citizenship

We've been recruiting connectivity engineers down there...

I'm doing a ridiculous amount of recruiting in Sydney at the moment, and the market is bare....I've currently got 11 vacancies to fill...

Not sure if this may help, but our story is reasonably similar to your situation.

Moved out here in 2006 on a 457. Applied for the 175 in Aug 2008, and changed employers (and a new 457) in May...

The ACS are a funny mob - I found out when I had my assessment that it doesn't matter what ASCO you apply under, they will designate the most appropriate.

I submitted as a 2231-11 Systems Manager...

Currently in Sydney on a 457, and 175 PR applied for in Aug 08. We thought that would give us plenty of time to sort the PR before our daughter started...

I've been sweating the last couple of months as my existing 457 is due to expire next Feb, and it is likely that the job that I am doing would be repatriated...
