Re: ETA - Dual citizens must have valid UK passport

It looks like you already have the solution.

Re: ETA - Dual citizens must have valid UK passport

This is a little confusing. Are you flying from the US to the UK and then to Gran Canaria? Ryanair doesn't fly to or from the US.

Theoretically your wife can use her British passport for the...

Re: Let's talk about cars

In many states in the EU the little 50cc cars don't require a full driving licence.
They serve a couple of niches, young drivers who aren't old enough for a full licence, and older drivers who might...

Re: Applying for a UK Pension. I am missing information.

You might get lucky an find an old CV you used for a job application. That might have the relevant information about the employment record.

Re: Who can afford this

Most delis have good sandwiches priced between $5 for something basis and $9 for a pastrami hero.

Re: Fishing

In my view it's more of a duty.
It was our ancestors who wiped out most of the apex predators, so it's up to humans to keep their natural prey in check or we end up with overpopulation and unhealthy...

Re: Best way to renew a UK passport inside the USA?...

That's helpful.

Another option is to use the camera on a smartphone to take a photo and upload it. You might need someone else to take the picture as a selfie might not be good enough.
Some...

Re: Class 2 NI. What about us poor expats paying voluntary contributions?

I just received my letter yesterday. For 2024-25 the amount is £179.25 for class 2 VNIC.

I wonder why it's 15 pence less for me.

Re: Let's talk about cars

The slate looks like an interesting concept. A basic, but customisable vehicle that can include plenty of upgrades and options could work. I see the basic price is around $27k, but without any...

Re: Moving back home to escape the craziness

Given recent developments, I would caution anyone to be careful what you post on forums and social media if their visa is up for renewal in the next couple of years.

Re: Class 2 NI. What about us poor expats paying voluntary contributions?

Thanks Dan,
That's roughly the amount I paid too for the class 2 and a bit of gap filling at class 3.
For 2024/25 onwards do you know if we continue at class 2 or class 3?

Re: Class 2 NI. What about us poor expats paying voluntary contributions?

Thanks Derek,

That's very helpful. Good luck with your voluntary contributions.

I just tried my first payment based on the reference number, so I'll let you know how it goes
