Re: ANZAC Day

It's never been a celebration. It's the ANZAC's Remembrance Day. Poppies are worn, the mood is sombre and respectful. A day for remembering those who gave their lives for the greater good. I have...

Re: Happy Waitangi Day Kiwis

Cheers! Though being back in Blighty for good, I shan't be 'celebrating' it anymore. I believe it was jolly hot on the Hibiscus Coast and the beaches were heaving.

Re: Alert: Shrove Tuesday 13th Feb

Well as we are back in the UK now, at least I won't be cooking them in the height of summer anymore. I was very pink by the time I'd finished making them!
I'll get my eggs at the weekend. I chucked...

Re: Shrimps On The Barbie

You certainly have had very stressful times with your neighbours over a long period of time, so I'd just go with whatever comes into your head.
After the 18 months of stress with our Gulf Harbour...

Re: Shrimps On The Barbie

I was introduced to the word wazzock by my eldest brother back in about 1975. I assumed he picked it up at his Grammar School in Prescot. He referred to someone as being a stony-eyed wazzock and the...

Re: Insurancers - House - contents - car.

OH used to work in procurement for Lumley Insurance, sadly Wesfarmers decided to sell it to IAG. Lumley had a good record for paying out and was the best of the bunch after the Chch earthquake. OH...

Re: Insurancers - House - contents - car.

We were with the AA for the last few years. I'm sure we would have faced increased premiums this year. OH always negotiated the price downwards from the quote we were given originally.

Re: Social Security Disability

I can't help you on this matter Rich but just wanted to wish you well. It's stressful enough dealing with I'll health, never mind having to deal with the redundancy and loss of health insurance.

Re: 10 Days back

You're absolutely right tdrinker. We have a roof over our heads and the locals are friendly. Being with dad would not be a great place to be and the Airbnb was good but could never be a long-term...

Re: 10 Days back

Thanks brits1. I am taking each day as it comes. Our new GP seems to be okay, so that is a relief. I have a mental health support worker who visits once a week. Yesterday we tried a Tai Chi class in...

Re: Six on, six off?

I remember talking to a woman about 15 years ago in Gulf Harbour. She and her OH did the 6/6 thing. I think they were retired, she was a volunteer on Tiritiri Matangi Island in the NZ Summer months....

Re: Current weather and quakes in NZ. All OK?

I know how much you loathe earthquakes. The not knowing was one of the worst bits for me. We didn't experience many in Auckland but when we had a couple close together, I was always waiting for the...

Re: WTF in America Part 2

That was mine too! Obviously it was a rerun, I must have been 3 or 4 but I remember it vividly. I was totally enchanted by it.
Funny really because I loathe Disney stuff now .

Re: Top tips on getting a rental home and/or buying in England
