Re: Any British Motorcyclists on this site?

Hi OP. That's a lovely!

I moved to Portugal in 2022, and exchanged my licence last year. It took ages but I got it eventually. I only had Category A entitlement in the UK and it was ported...

Re: NHR 2.0

NHR 1.0 beneficiary here, so I can't comment on NHR 2.0 specifically, but I just want to add a couple of things.

I do not trust Portuguese accountants at all, not even the most expensive ones I...

Hi all,

I have a UK licence with motorbike (category A) entitlement, which is registered with the Portuguese IMT (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/living-in-portugal#until-31-december-2023). I don't...

Re: Article 15 Family Reunification Interview Requirements

They did want everything to be translated to Portuguese in my case, even though my lawyer told me that wasn't necessary. They gave me 10 calendar days to provide the translations.

Re: Driving Licence Exchange

Unfortunately it's taking months these days, and in some cases over a year. If it were just a couple of months I wouldn't mind waiting.

Re: Driving Licence Exchange

In my case, I ride my bike often and like to go overseas, so I don't like the idea of not being able to ride it abroad for an undetermined amount of time (in some cases over a year).

Re: Driving licence exchange

I haven't applied yet but I met a French couple recently who told me they'd just got their Portuguese licences and the whole process took less than 2 months. There's hope.

Re: Driving licence exchange

Thanks. Yeah that sounds risky. I might consider getting a Portuguese licence from scratch in that case

Re: Driving licence

Thanks for that link! That's great.

So basically: There's a transition period until 31st December 2022, during which we'll be regarded as if we were still in the EU, which means we have to notify...

Re: Driving licence

Just FYI: I asked a friend to call IMT and double check that 31st December 2022 extension, since I've seen no mention of it on the IMT website.

She was told that they didn't know about that...

Re: Driving licence exchange

Has anyone got their Portuguese licence recently, and if so, how long did the whole exchange process take? I've read online that some people have been waiting for 18 months and counting! :(

Are lessons strictly necessary before the theory test?

Hi all,

My partner didn't manage to get a driving licence in the UK before coming to Portugal -- she only got as far as the theory test due to time constraints. We understand she has to start over...

Re: Anyone applied for a Baggage Certificate from the Portuguese consulate?

Indeed, the text you quoted is the main reason why I contacted them the first time. I think they just say that to cover their backs.

Re: Anyone applied for a Baggage Certificate from the Portuguese consulate?

Good point, sorry!

I couldn't get a baggage certificate due to the issues I mentioned in the OP. I asked the removal company about it again a day before the collection, and they told me they'd...

Re: Any advice for someone about to start riding a motorbike in Lisbon?

Thank you, Rosemary and Alan PT!

I totally agree with you re: driving on the right side of the road. Honestly, I'm more concerned about that than Portuguese drivers!

I wish I could start the...
