We lived on a boat in Puerto mogan so the SW of gran canaria. We sailed round all the islands whilst there and have just returned from a period sailing across the Atlantic and being in the Caribbean...

Thanks all and will just have to keep checking the govt website as well as await the official letter to say we can proceed to the next stage.

Oh, and we are doing this in the Canary Islands.

How long from presenting documents to getting TIE residency?

Hi all.

Just after some indication of how long we are likely to be waiting to then make the appt to have fingerprints taken and then get the TIE cards after presenting documents to relevant office...

Thanks for the comments as we are in the process of getting Spanish residencia here in the Canaries, and if the double tax agreement was to go...we would denounce it and head back to the UK!

Well we can't do anything yet as I have been told the national police stations in gran canaria are not open for nie applications etc, even if we could fly out!

Yes, aware ot that and we would return to the UK at some stage anyway and denounce the Spanish residency before we even thought of selling the house!

Update as heard from the tax specialists in gran Canaria.

Our military pensions will not be taxed and neither will they count towards any taxes we owe due to renting our property out.
