15 is higher than 14 and commands significantly better housing options, bonus and other benefits.

Below that you’re just regular staff.

This is standard process, the pressure sell. Take your time and counter their offer, which will be lowballing you. I was actually offered less than my base salary by them, I was close to telling them...

The reason why they rush before year end is nothing to do with visas, and everything to do with hiring requisition and budgets that only last to end of the financial year. So they have to get you in...

Highly unlikely. It will be a new job requisition and you’ll have to go through the entire process again. May have entirely different people involved in the process.

As others have said its standard procedure in this part of the world. You have to accept that or move on. What they used to do is look at your existing gross (before tax) and then look to match that...

Much appreciated for your responses. I agree, have heard the culture in their banks isn’t great and I’d be doing even longer hours than i do now! Really not worth a couple of grand more a month....

indeed, and still have to watch the £s. Mortgage is £3k a month in London, on 3-bed average house in a nice part of outer London. Rest gets eaten by transport costs 250, food 500 and nursery 900! ...

Kuwait 3500KDN per month - worth it?

I have the below offer from a Kuwaiti bank, in Kuwait City. For comparison I’m a ‘head of’ in a UK bank on £120k.

3500 p/m
5000 annual bonus fixed
~100% annual salary discretionary bonus...

Exactly, only pay for me to fly over. They said I’d get a 50% discount on normal prices for my wife/son, or 90% if prepared to hang around on standby (not an option for us with a baby).

They upped the offer to 45k all in, cash component being just over 31k.

Better, but still 5k below my absolute minimum. The way they have negotiated has been quite painful, in tiny increments and...

Thanks for the heads up on Etihad. It does seem a bit unstable.

I’ve also run the numbers again and the joining allowance of 20k AED will only just cover the agents fees, deposit etc. ...

They came back increasing the base by 5k AED and upping the schooling to 50k. Financially the offer is now close to what I’m on, but still not sure.

Any thoughts on working for Etihad?

I don’t really understand why they would make such a lowball offer, when they know my current package.
