This is the problem, the UAE itself has NO sovereign wealth fund.

Abu Dhabi's ruling family has a sovereign wealth fund that it does what it sees fit with.

Unfortunately this is a bandaid on a bullet wound. However with this 'Dubai' is for all intents and purposes 'done', as it is now officially a ward of Abu Dhabi and will bow to the desires of the AD...

Dubai's fund was a 'Sovereign Debt Fund' created with money borrowed under false pretenses (secured by 'real' estate which turned out to be worthless, gov't guarantees,...

Consider anything 'iconic' dead and buried. The grand strategy of dubai, along with 'dubai' itself, is dead. There is no money to complete these stupid projects, and god knows AD isn't going to throw...

Exactly. Anything like roads, oil/water/elec supply will be bailed out (DEWA, etc).

Consider the palm islands (all of them, even the completed one), dubailand, world islands, etc. complete toast....

one last thought. its been said here many times that the stability of dubai is thanks to the fact that locals are given food, housing, and money (and a land cruiser) regardless of their work status....
