From a cash perspective their is zero taxes owing, had the gift been a capital gift, then attribution rules may apply, depending on the valuation of the capital asset at the time of gifting.

That was exactly what I was getting at Siouxie. Using an international third party makes no sense and are only looking out for themselves. I would discuss all options with a Canadian tax accountant...

Hi Kenton,Why are you using a US company for a UK pension to Canada? What is the point of the middle man? Surely drawing the pension from your UK SIPP and transferring it to a Canadian bank account...

Just another add......There are also a great site, taxtips.ca that gives you a really good, simple understanding of taxation around investments. It's no good investing if you have no idea of the tax...

If you decide to work with a Financial Adviser you would do well to look at FPSC website, it's the Financial Planning Standards Council website, which allows you to find a Certified Financial Planner...
