We bit the bullet and went ahead and confirmed the booking and payment. My calculations are that the exchange rate is just not in our favour at the moment, plus VFS charge an additional £50+ on top,...

We sent docs to Sheffield from UK, and asked for them to be returned to UK. Sent on 22 Jan, returned to us by 26 Jan. So super quick, but visa took a little longer.
