Cheers Dave. I've seen that site from other forums. It seems to be a site that is set up purely to fight the issues around illegal builds, which is obviously a worthy cause. Useful if you're affected...

Not much. Spain's largest coal fired power station is in Carboneras (hence "carbon") which doesn't sound too appealing :)

Casting my net slightly further afield and inland now - going to try Albox...

Leaving Portugal aside for a second, I've just done a search on long term rentals in Ayamonte - nothing, on several websites. And nothing anywhere near. Must be hugely popular :)

Thanks for the response Pete. Yep, those are exactly the reasons I went for Almeria in the first place - lots of major telescopes in the mountains in that region, and if it's good enough for...
