I was issued with the numver almost immediatey but had to wait 2/3 weeks for the actual card

Yes- we applied at an office in Brooklyn - This I expected to be a nightmare but turned out to be the most straightforward - the only comment they made was that I should have waited at least 7 days...

Hope it is more straightforward when we get to the US - our first POE is in September and if we come away having opened a bank account etc - that would be great!!
