Your view is unhelpful. From what I can see you don't live in ROI so have no personal experience of the Irish Healthcare system.

I get what you are saying but the reality is there is 8,000 on the list and what would happen if everyone took that approach.

But we have contacted our TD personally and he contacted the hospital on our behalf but they said they only have 1 Orthopaedic Consultant so we must wait to get on his appt list.

We have had our GP write letters to the hospital, contacted our local TD and he has asked the hospital if there can be any possibility that the appt can be made but no joy with any of the above.

Moses.... my husband looked into this and says it only applies once you have seen a consultant and need treatment. As I say we have been waiting for our 1st appointment to see a consultant since last...

Our local hospital Tralee General has now 8,000 people on waiting lists to see Consultants. My husband was referred last October and still has not got an appointment, they say there might be one this...

You would be better of moving to the UK. There are a not a lot of jobs in Ireland or accommodation.

The EU have said there will be no special arrangements for Ireland when the British exit happens so its all up in the air at the moment.

Please bear in mind you will need to consider private health insurance as the Irish medical system does not compare with the NHS. We have typical waiting lists of 1.5 years to see a consultant.

Please bear in mind that you will need private medical insurance living in Ireland as well as the waiting lists are horrendous, typically 1.5 years wait to see a consultant.

The waiting lists are frightening throughout the country. You also have to bear in mind that you must pay 50 euros to visit the doctor and prescriptions can be very expensive as well.

Yes I am Irish and living in Ireland for the past few years. My husband needs to see a Consultant regarding his knee and the waiting list is 18 months to 2 years.
We are pensioners and can't afford...

It sounds like you are just coming to Ireland for the benefits, the Irish Healthcare system is not as good as the NHS you would be better off staying in the UK.
