I have found an interesting article comparing the best rates - 4% with Kent Reliance 2 year fixed though....or with Santander but you need GBP25k to start!

Yeah, that's true......but i am not looking to avoid tax, but rather find ways of making the most use of our Pounds in the UK while the rate is so low.

It looks like it's going to be a long time...

Yeah, i did check that, the transfer was marked as a "Tax Free" transfer.

Ok, what i am really trying to say is that my own UK contributions should have been added to the Unrestricted non-preserved benefits and not lumped together and put into the Preserved benefits.

Thanks for explaining, but this could be the difference, i was making a net payment of £31.20 per month, getting tax relief of £8.80 so £40 was being added to my UK pension.

Thanks for your reply, but i am not looking into accessing the Super now, but when the time comes to retire, for example starting a TTR at the age of 55.

I do understand that tax would be payable...

There is no problem with you paying a co-contribution of $3000 into her Super, and you will get the 540$.

But as for the 10% eligibility test for your wife (wife not working) if she pays the...

I did read somewhere, that in order to access her super at 60, she will have to satisfy a condition of release, such as retiring from work, and if she is not working this will not be met.

Don't forget that when you get your citizenship, your PR visa in your UK passport is automatically cancelled, so it's a good idea to get the aussie one for hassle free travel.....;)

You are allowed to keep your UK property for up to 6 years without paying any CGT, as it's your "Principle place of residence" (PPR) providing you do not buy a property out here in Aus, the problem...
