I think within your current login you can only have one profile active at a time so you would I think have to withdraw your current IEC profile from the pool and link a new one with the new reference...

If you look at the air new zealand site you will see the process explained for transiting LAX . Basically for NZ1/NZ5 you deplane from NZ1 go through US immigration collect bags go through Us customs...
