Re: Quick Question

Which bit? OK, let's break it down.

My post (quoted here for easy reference) doesn't mention kids being "reckless with them, speeding, in and out of traffic, ignoring traffic lights, one-way...

Re: Quick Question

You don't have to.

I left out the rest of your post because it was mostly nonsense.

Re: Quick Question

Sym is a Taiwan outfit and partner to Hyundai so it could be worse. As you say, it's not a top brand but their scoots are quite popular so it should easily reach the end of a 5 yr warranty if you...

Re: Quick Question

I intend doing a lot of touring on my bike so I need much more than a scooter.

If you only want to do a bit of local commuting I think a scooter is the wisest choice. Is the scooter second hand...

Re: Quick Question

Out of curiosity, what are your plans? And have you ridden a bike before (not including twist and go)?

Re: Quick Question

Hang on... I never said there was a problem. I said:

I stand by what I said. I find it quite disturbing that Spain allows people to just climb on a 125cc machine based on holding a car licence...

Re: Quick Question

The higher proportion of twist n go accidents is probably down to the fact that a greater number of people think they can jump on one and go than think they can ride a (geared) bike.

If 100 people...

Re: Quick Question

I don't think we were talking about getting a brand new, first licence I wasn't anyway). If that were the case you would be UK resident (to be taking your test in the UK?)

I'm looking at it from...

Re: Quick Question

It doesn't help when consulting firms are giving out advice that say otherwise.

"One of the conditions of holding a UK licence is that the address it is registered to is your PERMANENT place of...

Re: Quick Question

That is precisely the point I was making. If Spanish law allows someone to jump on a (geared) bike simply by virtue of having held a car licence for a period of time it is a disaster waiting to...

Re: Quick Question

In the UK? No thank you!

There are a few who ride "sensibly" but tracksuits and trainers should be an instant ban!

Re: Quick Question

As someone with a full motorbike A licence I find it quite disturbing that Spain allows people to just climb on a 125cc machine based on holding a car licence for 3 years.

At least in the UK you...

That is interesting. Thank you.

I didn't want to respond to the previous answer as I'm sure it would have been met with sarcasm.

Fredbargate, I can't speak for the OP but thank you. The...

Re: Am I just dreaming ?

As a resident in Spain how do you legally open a new account in the UK?

As an example the Nationwide FlexDirect online application asks:

Can you confirm that you are NOT a U.S. citizen AND your...

I'm sure many people happily buy and live inland but, regardless of that, it doesn't alter the fact that you found an article expressing hope for a recovery and posted a selective quote from it...

Re: ISA's and tax declarations

That's what I have found in various information resources. You can keep existing ISAs but you cannot add funds to them or open new ISAs.

Can't see why they would close one and move it to a savings...

Re: ISA's and tax declarations

That didn't quite clarify sorry.

You don't declare sums in ISA less than 50K (though you would of course declare the annual interest on those ISAs). So having 52k in ISAs would see you declare...

Re: ISA's and tax declarations

So you declare the annual interest but not the sum locked in the ISA itself? (assuming the sum is less than 50K)

In another thread Fred James said:

My question is do you have to declare money tied up in a UK ISA? It's sitting there tax free in the UK so do you have to declare it (and therefore be taxed...
