Generally ( Depending on the Office ) you should look for getting AP sometime between 30 and 60 days ( or even longer ) after application.

The Woman who took my passport and Envelope was polite and friendly and I was in and out of there in under 5...

I am not sure about Philly either - but I had my single fingerprint and photo taken and the EAD issued all in about 15 minutes 2 weeks ago at Des Moines - and I am still waiting for my AOS Biometrics...

You have not said under which Visa you entered the US on.
If it had been a K1 Visa then you could have applied and got your SS# as soon as you had arrived.

Applied for AOS, EAD and Advanced Parole on January 21 and received my EAD on March 25 and Advanced parole on March 22.
As I said still waiting on an AOS Biometrics date.

I got my fingerprints done by the AFP ( Australian Federal Police ) and they never send you back the fingerprints - and I suspect that the NSW Police will not either.
