Re: Winter Temperatures in Costa Blanca

Likewise. A few Kms inland from Torrevieja - ice on the roof terrace after heavy rain earlier in January. I think that was possibly 2004.

Re: Scenes in Catalonia

No doubt the Jackboot brigade are relishing the thought of an EU militia - ready to quell any dissent. Juncker's pathetic groupies ready to bear arms

Thanks for the inputs.

TalkTalk have finally got back to me. They've asked me arrange a couple of timed test calls from Spain so that they can analyse the problem.

I don't think it's a SIM...

Re: Strange mobile problem UK-Spain

Yes, calls from UK numbers seem ok irrespective of their physical location.

Calls from Spanish numbers (only mobiles tried) do not work. First noticed a couple of weeks ago when I was in Spain.

Re: Strange mobile problem UK-Spain

Thanks Bob.

Calling Spanish numbers is not a problem. It's the other way round ie. Spanish numbers calling my TalkTalk sim, with the correct 0044 UK prefix.
As I say, Spanish texts get through...

Re: Strange mobile problem UK-Spain

Thanks.
As far as I know I've never used a call blocker. Is that something on the phone or Sim?

BTW. I've used another UK Sim (PAYG) in the phone (same slot) with no problem, which indicates it's...

Re: Strange mobile problem UK-Spain

Thanks for your reply Bob.

TalkTalk have confirmed that roaming is ON.

Everything appears to work ok apart from receiving calls from Spanish numbers (Spanish texts are received ok).

My new...

Strange mobile problem UK-Spain

If anyone has any thoughts on this I'd be most grateful.

Firstly, am I right in assuming that a Spanish (SimFree) mobile is fully compatible with a UK Sim? (as mobile manufacturers treat...

Re: Scam

Last year in the UK I was caught by a TalkTalk scam.
It actually seemed legit at the time. Goes something like this...

New broadband install, but had a problem with the wiring to the house.

Re: HEALTHCARE IN THE NEW E.U

Agreed Bob.
Although my property in Spain is just a holiday home, we have many British friends in Spain who are resident and worried about the future. I feel for them but I'm cautiously optimistic...

Re: Medical Care Spain

Agreed. And there lies the problem - the big disparity between contributory and non contributory benefit systems puts the UK out on a limb, being seen as a soft touch. I believe a significant factor...

Re: Medical Care Spain

No. The family were running a B&B business so presumably qualified for state healthcare.
However the programme (along with others) gave the clear impression that Brits get these benefits, period. No...

Re: Medical Care Spain

Slight diversion..
We still see distorted information via UK news media about the 'benefits' that Brits enjoy in EU countries. Only last week ITV (Meridian News) ran a report saying how Brits will...

Re: Long term holidays v moving to Spain

In 13 years we haven't had any major problems. I don't regret buying our property - if we sold, we would roughly get back what we paid for it. So not a great investment but has provided us with a lot...
