Re: Leave to Remove back to the UK

"I am desperate to return to the UK and you can imagine my horror in discovering it is impossible without his consent"

If the lady in question was referring to her and their child they would have...

Re: WF Mortgage commissions

No one should touch Wells Fargo for financial products. Their leadership team should be in prison, soon to be joined by the leadership of Barclays with any luck.

If this thread serves any purpose...

Re: Leave to Remove back to the UK

That wasn't clear from the OP's post. Thanks for the clarification.

Thankfully children can't just be removed by one parent to another jurisdiction. Sounds like the OP needs to sort out the...

Re: Leave to Remove back to the UK

Why are you, a British citizen with a British passport, unable to return to the UK without your husbands consent?

To clarify: you are free to go wherever you wish. If your husband is keeping you...

Re: WF Mortgage commissions

I'm certainly not miserable; I'm simply an intelligent realist with a cynical persuasion.

Re: So we have finally found a beautiful home

You lost me at this part. Sorry. < snipped > Others have already highlighted why your 'consultants' advice is bad, so I'll leave it there.

My advice? Buy something cheap until your furniture...

Re: Time Scales For Citizenship Application

One thing to remember about early filing is that CIS can't approve an N-400 until at the earliest your anniversary date (ie, completing the 3 years of residency). So you can file early - indeed, I...

Re: URGENT: Reentry to USA after UK travel tomorrow

I'm very sorry to hear this. I hope you can spend the time you need with before she passes.

Yes. Absolutely. You have an unexpired I-551. As long as you file your petition before the expiry...

Re: Time Scales For Citizenship Application

You don't even need to do this. CIS has a tool that does it for you.

Re: B1 visa and esta

Canada requires electronic travel approval (eTA - Electronic Travel Authorisation) for all citizens other than US and their own. So, Mexico is all round simpler for you.

Re: Updating Social Security Card details

You continue to undermine your own assertion that a trip to the SSA is required to update a persons immigration status with the stuff you're quoting!

Please _stop_.

Re: B1 visa and esta

Are you talking land or air crossing?

If air, I would go to Mexico. It's cheaper potentially, and CBP aren't stationed in Mexican airports, at least allowing you to present yourself at the POE...

Re: Updating Social Security Card details

NO ONE IS DISPUTING THAT.

What I am, attempting (though you're not listening) to correct you on is that your record at the SSA factors into this. It doesn't.

Re: Mortgage for new LPR with limited credit history

Yes, of course I do.

Right! And this is the point.

The checks are performed by you supplying evidence to prove your status. It matters not one jot what is listed at the social security...

Re: Mortgage for new LPR with limited credit history

From PF's own hand:

"I was told last week at Wells Fargo that this temp resident status will show up on credit applications done by the bank until it is changed at the social security office."

Re: Mortgage for new LPR with limited credit history

PF is linking a person's immigration status at the social security office with a credit application.

"When you apply for credit, they run your social security number through the system [1] and if...

Re: Mortgage for new LPR with limited credit history

Whilst you should update your status with the social security office, the assertion that immigration status appears on ones credit report is a nonsensical myth that PF keeps pushing despite those...

Re: Updating Social Security Card details

I agree.

What I don't agree with is:

1. What is written on your SSN making any difference;
2. What is recorded at the SSO having any bearing on a credit application.

Re: Updating Social Security Card details

They ask, because they have no way of finding out otherwise. It's a self admittance system. You are then required to provide proof if information is flagged that you're ineligible to work (algorithm...

Re: Updating Social Security Card details

Of course there are; but that is not in dispute. PF has asserted that not updating your status details with the SSO will have a negative impact on your credit worthiness.

That is simply, and...

Re: Updating Social Security Card details

With regards to the assertion that CRAs are aware of your immigration status at social security, no, it hasn't.

Why PF continues to arrogantly push the 'WF is God how dare you question them' line...

Yes.

The law would need to be changed to allow such data to be disclosed to CRAs.

Re: Updating Social Security Card details

The point Steve is making - which you are completely missing - is that the CRAs do NOT know your immigration status! Do you even realise it is not being disclosed to them by Social Security or even...
