Re: Renting in Vancouver

Re: Renting in Vancouver

Thanks a lot for your response! The thing that concerns me about the references part is a lot of the ads on craigslist saying that they are required. Do you think it would be best to just apply for...

Re: Renting in Vancouver

I must say I've seen better deals than that!

My main concern is the lack of references though, loads of ads on craigslist require references from landlords/jobs, which I won't have at the...

Hi!

So me and my 2 others are coming to Vancouver on the IEC visa on Feb 27th 2014 and I have some questions about renting in this city.

1. What would be a 'reasonable' (very subjective I know)...

Re: Any Vancouver experts that can answer a few qu's?

Thanks folks. Any idea what would be a reasonable monthly budget? I was thinking $2000 max for rent between 3.

Emailed the "re-iec" address, and got the POE within 3 days. FINALLY I can start planning this trip! Worst application process for anything, ever, but glad its over now and...

Re: IEC 2013

But plenty of people have had their POEs with the 5645? Plus everyone has to be 18 or over to do this IEC scheme anyway

I think expecting any kind of useful communication from these people is wishful thinking

Re: IEC 2013

There is a phone number on the London visa office page but when I phoned it someone picked up and said "for all enquiries please go the email address, sorry byeee" and then hung up! Madness

Re: IEC 2013

Some other people are having issues with that don't worry. I'm not even sure you need it because all you need to cross the border if your POE, which is sent to your myCIC account (IN THEORY)

Re: IEC 2013

So we just email the generic one? Surely the case specific one makes more sense. I can just envisage me emailing that one, and getting hit with 'Sorry but for all enquiries related to specific cases...

Re: IEC 2013

What's the correct email for them? Seems to be loads. I would guess the case specific enquiry for the London office? My friend emailed them about something else and they told him that they don't deal...

Actually its 6 weeks for me today, I've just realised! I'm in no rush to leave, think I'll give it to 7 weeks before emailing.

To be fair I've heard the 6 week figure being mentioned too, but the website says 8 for some reason

Re: IEC 2013

Oh, it says 8 weeks (or 2 months) on here for the London office for 'temporary work permit' which I thought we were applying for?

Re: IEC 2013

I've been waiting over 5 weeks, but really don't want to gamble on going over without a proper visa. I'll wait the full 8 weeks then email them, but knowing these people that won't actually help...

Re: IEC 2013

Seems to be a few people actually having their visas approved but not receiving any emails by the look of that facebook group.

Seriously CIC, that's just embarassing

Re: Any Vancouver experts that can answer a few qu's?

I've had quick look on Craiglist and there seem to be quite a few houses that are $1800 a month around main city area (not downtown obviously, but close enough). That's $600 a month each which...
