Re: Is GBP gaining or going in a hole against AUD?

Well Done!

Yes I love it as well - especially when I routinely save at least a few hundred dollars/pounds each time.

Check out, "The Cure to Money Transfer Jitters" - I made a little video to...

Re: Is GBP gaining or going in a hole against AUD?

Yes the banks do tend to take you to the cleaners! I actually just did a little review of CanadianForex who are owned by OzForex in an attempt to help others save money. Nothing like the pain of...

Is GBP gaining or going in a hole against AUD?

Hi Guys,

With a move to Australia imminent and most our income coming from the UK I am keen to hear or your opinions on the relative state of the economies in Australia and the UK.

Re: money transfer to uk

There are just a handful that are registered to operate in the US. Most can send money in - but not out. In the US money transfer companies have to be registered in the actual states.

He will...

Re: Another bringing cash into canada question

Interesting - I tried to negotiate with my bank here in Canada and got nowhere.

My experience has been that banks are not the way to go for a number of reasons.

The main reason is that a Forex...

Re: Money Transfer to US

Hi Jake,

If you are actually moving to the states, I recommend finding the ones that are registered in the state where you are moving. This will mean that you can get you money in and out with...

Re: Currency Exchange Problem

 - hopefully not

One of the beauties of an FX Company is that they deal with your bank at the national level - in this case Wells in the US. That is part of how they reduce fees but also why...

Re: Currency Exchange Problem

Perhaps you need to try to sign up with a FX company that is registered in the US - specifically the state you were living in.

I think it is worth a call or two, because it sounds like what you...

Re: Cheapest/easiest bulk £ to $ transfers

Hi ookie123,

1.765 is what I see currency as the mid-market rate. If you are getting 1.7305 right now that is a terrific deal even if you were moving a very large amount. (Of course this does...

Hi ookie123,

Fingers crossed is right - Damn that is frustrating. You are still miles ahead of just a couple months ago though.

You might already have everything sorted with a money transfer...

Sure have. Have you seen the two year chart?

I have saved many thousands by paying attention to charts and the trends in currencies and right now the Pound is losing steam in a fairly dramatic...

Re: How do you get a UK bank current account when resident abroad

He he, yeah I hear you! If its any consolation a lot of the restrictions are related to anti-money laundering laws. The banks would probably like to make it easier to get your money.

Yep -...

Re: DWP and State Pension - hope we've done the right thing

Hi Spouse, :goodpost:
Based on the historically high Aussie dollar and the strengthening pound I like the idea of letting it build up in the UK if you can.

Of course, currencies are fickle and...

You can easily save 2-4% - To help choose the right one though consider the minimums they allow. You also want to look at if they are an internet or phone based service - some are phone only...

Re: Cheapest/easiest bulk £ to $ transfers

1% is great - well done you just saved over $1000 on a bank based on my comparisons.

As Chris points out WorldFirst is the partner of Oanda.

I recommend WorldFirst and CanadianForex as both...

PayPal is great for less then a few hundred dollars because of zero or very low fees but if you plan to transfer more than that there are much better options because of the percentage they...

Re: So who is offering the best deal on money transfer these days?

I have not used XE, but you raise an interesting point.
