Default money transfer to uk

Can anyone tell me if it would be possible for my son in the us to transfer dollars to my account in the UK? He tried to transfer his money to my account in Israel but Israeli laws do not allow for this. It is urgent because he is leaving the us next week.
Thanks

Yes, no problem at all, but he really should use a money transfer service like xe.com not a mainline bank. He will get much better value for money.

If he doesn't already have an account with a currency transfer company he may not have time to set one up before next week when he's leaving.

Look at https://transferwise.com/ it's a skype company.
I haven't used them but others on this forum have recommended them before and some friends of mine in Europe have also used it.

Don't use the banks unless you absolutely have to!

There are just a handful that are registered to operate in the US. Most can send money in - but not out. In the US money transfer companies have to be registered in the actual states.

He will have time to register but he will have to act fast.

Transferwise operates in some states depending on payment method but is restricted - https://transferwise.com/support/cus...y-from-the-usa

In my experience, you can probably do better on the rates than what they are offering - it will depend on the amount.

PM me the state if you like and I try to find an appropriate service or two.

Through the miracles of this thing called "The Internet", he can transfer the money from his US account any time he wants, irrespective of whether or not he's actually in the US.

I have always used xe.com, and found it to provide good-to-great rates.

Oh Pulaski of course!!
I lived in France for far too long, where nothing could ever be set up using anything other than snail mail and a sweaty handshake...

I remember that our Worldfirst account took a week or so sending to London various documents to prove who we were and that our main account was legit. So I was thinking more in terms of being able to send/receive stuff at a physical location but I suppose he could just use his new address.
DUH!!

We send money to the UK using XE.com and it appears to be working well so far.
