Re: Shark Cull Begins

Please tell me where and when 2, 3, 4 metre and bigger sharks have been caught from the beach in metro WA?

Re: Shark Cull Begins

That's one tiny little location. Exactly where are you talking about? Look at the metro coastline from Mandurah to Yanchep and count up similar locations - would probably only take one hand, but...

Re: Shark Cull Begins

Is anyone in the WA govt planning to wipe out all sharks? Are the numbers of protestors massive when you look at Perth's population?

There are very limited opportunities to build rock pools...

Re: Shark Cull Begins

Did Barnett or anyone else say that the drumlines would kill all sharks?

Re: Shark Cull Begins

I am speaking with long-term experience of living in the same location, within sound of the shark sirens and on waving terms with the helicopter pilots. We are a family with long links to marine...

Re: Moving to Sydney - Please help!

At least you get some of the costs of childcare covered, but you don't with nannies. Also, the quality of the nanny you get can be very variable. If a backpacker, they won't be around for long,...

Re: Shark Cull Begins

Seals are not seen at the surf beaches around here, there are no warning signs and there is a mix of patrolled and unpatrolled beaches. People are just using the beach in the same way as they have...

Re: Redbacks

About 3 years after moving here, I was bitten by a redback lurking in the fabric of an outdoors chair. It was identified as a male, but I still had a bad reaction and spent a few hours in hospital...

Re: Shark Cull Begins

No, just a voice of reason to present a different view to the shark lovers.

Re: Shark Cull Begins

This is one really important environmental issue of national and international significance. A few sharks being killed off WA is not, especially when 3 other states have been doing the same thing...

Re: Shark Cull Begins

Not coming in close to the shoreline and killing people. Yes, there is a stupidly high 'level of pumped up hysteria' from the shark lovers.

Re: Moving to Sydney - Please help!

Finding care for your kids is going to be a challenge. Once you've decided on a suburb, a big challenge in itself, you need to decide on a state or private school - state schools tend to have a...

Re: Shark Cull Begins

Yes, nets and drumlines have been used in other states for a long time, so the outrage here and interstate about the new WA govt policy is ridiculous.

Alas, you're using a low quality translator. I've just been working full-time the past week and was short of time. Also, there's not much to say when a lot of people are just saying things like "I...

Re: Shark Cull Begins

You might be lucky enough to have a public swimming pool nearby, but not everyone has. Yes, you could drive to a pool - that's really good for the environment, isn't it? What next - don't go...

Re: Shark Cull Begins

No, I'm not targeting Chris, but his posts are amongst the more preposterous on this thread. As you say, there's plenty of others, especially in WA, but life's too short to reply to all of them.

Re: Shark Cull Begins

Exactly - you and your kids are at no risk of being attacked by a great white or tiger shark - so why jump up and down about getting rid of a few sharks who are nowhere near you and your family? You...

Re: Shark Cull Begins

Sharks have not been coming right in to the shoreline at Perth metro beaches as regularly and in such high numbers as the past couple of years. It was a long time before I even heard a shark alarm...

Re: Shark Cull Begins

As I said before, if you follow this type of thinking through, then there's only a couple of very small beaches in the Perth metro area where it's guaranteed that the sharks can't get through.

Re: Shark Cull Begins

Basking in icy water or actually on top of ice, like some Arctic animals, actually sounds very appealing. In fact, on hot summer days like this one, I'm dreaming about it:o.
