oh yes, also get a NOC from your company, preferrably in arabic. women need a NOC from their husbands (!) but husbands can just sign a form for this. the customer service lady will give you the form...

ask a cab driver to take you to traffic department in muroor. take a photocopy of your current drivers license and photographs on a white background. once you entire the office, get your license...

Thanks Meow. I suspect the bank staff told me this story to convince me to take a more expensive personal loan ! They helpfully suggested that with a personal loan, I would need no paperwork to go...

i've just been told by the bank manager that if i buy a car with an automobile loan then i need a special police certificate to take the car outside UAE e.g. to Oman, even if its for a weekend.

my wife and i moved here 3 months ago and are just about settled now. AD looks a bit difficult to socialise as most people tend to go to Dubai on the weekend. We tend to do that too...

I live in Lebanon at the moment and would advise against a move here unless you really must. Its a nice enough place to visit once in a while but not to stay for the long-term.

ive read about commutes from dubai and al ain on this website and elsewhere but i dont fancy doing a 1 hour commute...

Mabrouk ! My wife and I are relocating there in about a months time. Still trying to work out affordable accomodation in AD, Dubai etc. AD is frightfully expensive for some reason.
