Just to confirm this bit for anyone who (like me) is not sure how this works.

When you first get here, if you are a "permanent" resident, then you can only drive on our UK license for 3 months.

You can buy Marmite in Safeway - same price as in UK. Same goes for lemon tea - loads of the stuff. About the only thing that you are going to miss is the variety of crisps (they are all nacho-style)...

Good point on the duty though - we got nailed for a computer and a mountain bike when our stuff arrived.

Not sure about the TV, but as for DVD, I use my computer with an s-video out and it plays fine on the TV.

i would sell your tv/dvd and buy new ones when you get here..
