Your nationality might be the reason. I think most of the applicants from Pakistan go through some "external security checks", whatever that means.

I guess they can ask for any information at any time before the visa is granted... Are you from or have you been living in any of the countries they might consider "high risk"?

With 190 visa you can live anywhere in Australia. I couldn't find a job in the state that sponsored me (Victoria), so I moved to Sydney where I have been working for the past few months as a postdoc.

You first need skills assessment from VETASSESS (http://www.vetassess.com.au/) and you need at least a Bachelor degree...

No, just the degree done in Australia. Answering that question "yes" will add 5 points in your EOI, so if you only studied overseas, be careful with that question.

Actually the answer is yes. I got my employment as a PhD student assessed as work experience and I still have not received my PhD. I just recently got my visa (190) so I guess that has not changed.

Yep, and strangely they just require scientists to have a Bachelor degree. So everything afterwards counts as experience. I got my assessment based on PhD research.

That is enough experience to get positive assessment. The requirement for Agricultural Scientist is just a BSc degree so all experience after that is counted as skilled

Hi, If you want to claim points for his PhD then you should apply for Points test Advice from VETSSESS and get it assessed. The basic skills assessment will only assess your Bachelor quantification...

I can't understand what graduating has to do with work experience? Maybe they other person misunderstood you and though you want your PhD assessed?

My reference letter has " XX is employed at XX...
