Re: Another UAE QROPS firm has permissions suspended

I suspect that the reasoning behind this was to "kill" that part of the market where the individual retires in a different country to where the QROPS is based, though EU rules stopped this for the EU...

Re: Another UAE QROPS firm has permissions suspended

I had some similar comment made when I raised concerns about a New Zealand QROPS a few years back. That scheme was later removed by HMRC as it was a liberation scheme and hundreds of expats are...

Re: Another UAE QROPS firm has permissions suspended

I have been told that the UK FCA is now looking closely at the collusion between non-UK firms and UK firms where these pension trasnfers are arranged. My suspicions are, unless someone from the firm...

Another UAE QROPS firm has permissions suspended

There seems to be a lot going on in the overseas pension advice sector. Last week the UK Chancellor introduced a 25% tax charge for many expats that want to transfer a pension.

Now, another firm...

QROPS - Class Action

I used to contribute some comments on this site, but am now retired. It could not come soon enough, and have gone home.

But, I thought I would post this in case anyone over there is affected.

I...

Re: Anybody had any dealings with Abbey Financial Services

One of the minefields is the issue of Double Taxation Agreements. I have just "googled" Malta's and cannot find Thailand. So, if this is correct, Malta could deduct up to 35% income tax on the income...

Re: Pension from onother country and tax.

Clear as mud, I have never read so much tripe in my life.

There is no "fund" in your name in the Police Pension Scheme. If you opt out you are given a CETV (Cash Equivalent Transfer Value). At...

Cyprus removed from QROPS list

I noticed this story on an expat forum...

http://www.iexpats.com/2012/08/qrops-mystery-as-cyprus-disappears-from-hmrc-list/

Not sure if it affects anyone over there, but this may perhaps be of...

Re: QROPS

I have read the rules on the Malta website.

I think Otto means that income won't be paid in year 2 of retirement, before the first tax return is completed and then the same issues will occur on an...

Re: QROPS

Whilst not aimed specifically at QROPS, bearing in mind my comment above, I think this article from an FT newspaper is worth looking at. The FSA are cracking down on such transfers

Re: QROPS

Absolutely no idea.

Mind you, if everyman and his dog is now moving their pensions to one location that seems to have only a few QROPS providers I would be worried about a severe admin failure.

Re: QROPS

My opinion, for what it is worth, is the HMRC have decided that QROPS will be run the way HMRC want them to be run and will not accept any loose interpretations of the rules. HMRC seemed to take a...

Re: QROPS

Do you have any reference to this possibilty? I am not suggesting that this will not happen, but is it possible that HMRC have drawn a line under the past with the change of rules to stop access to...

Someone has just pointed out to me that HMRC have taken down the list of recognised QROPS, the suggestion being that there will be a considerable number of changes.

Re: Pension Unlocking ( Reciprocation) Schemes

Re: QROPS

This is the only time that I have seen a constructive discussion about this subject on a forum. It would be useful if people could put up credible links to updates on the progress of these reforms.

Re: QROPS

The new proposals make a lot of the discussions about QROPS and cashing in pensions redundant.

For ordinary QROPS holders there is the Devil in the detail. Scheme managers must tax non-residents...

Re: QROPS

I sometimes wonder if HMRC script their rules in the Tower of Babel. There are so many different opinions from people, all of whom think they are right.

If HMRC are targetting QROPS, what are they...

Whilst ensuring your QROPS is good value for money and taking...

Re: Cashing in forgotten UK pensions

Sue,

I originally said that I would make one comment, but your question is a fair one. I was simply looking for UK expat forums/websites and found this one.
Having found it, I noticed the heading...
