Re: B1 denied--> dilemma

It was 1997-1998 so a little longer than 10 years.

I wonder whether BUNAC now deal with visas for internships. Might be worth the OP contacting them. There must be some mechanism. The CIEE website...

Re: Experiences/recommendations - watching IPlayer/4OD etc

Thanks. But that's not the problem I'm having. It's just very slow (although does sometimes come on just fine). I'm afraid I don't understand the rest of your answer (apart from the youtube bit). I'm...

Re: B1 denied--> dilemma

I had a similar experience. I did summer work through BUNAC on a J1 and then after university did an internship in the US through the Council on International Educational Exchange (affiliated to...

Re: Tipping UK Shipment Packing Crew??

Hmmm in the UK I'd say not. We didn't but then we were paying for the packing (my husband's employer was) so it didn't occur to us to hand over any money at all. Tipping for things like that isn't...

Re: driving in maryland

Would that include fully comprehensive cover or just limited liability? We have the same issue in a few months time. I guess I should call our broker and ask their advice.

Experiences/recommendations - watching IPlayer/4OD etc

We moved here last month and as soon as we had our cable service set up I looked into subscribing to a UK VPN service so we could watch things on the BBC Iplayer etc. We've had one for a month now...

Getting money in place to buy a car

We are moving in a few months & will need to buy a car fairly quickly after arrival. I'm reluctant to use a UK credit card given fees etc but we won't have our US bank account up and running and the...

Re: Anyone with experience of living dairy free in the US?

Thanks for this and your other reply. Very useful.

We have only used formula for cereal and for when I'm not around. It's on prescription here.

That's rubbish about bread. Very lttle bread...

Re: Anyone with experience of living dairy free in the US?

Thanks.

Lactose free isn't the same as dairy free. But soya products are of course dairy free. The milk alternative isn't the problem. I was thinking more of yoghurts, deserts etc

Also, anyone...

Anyone with experience of living dairy free in the US?

My son has a dairy allergy. Availability of a wide range of dairy free products is excellent in the UK including a special soya milk enhanced specifically for toddlers.

I was wondering what was...

Re: Best transatlantic carrier when traveling with kids

Thanks all. We'll be flying LHR to IAD so American is out as are some of the other smaller US carriers. Think it'll be down to BA or Virgin.

I'd love to fly Virgin Upper Class. I've flown it...

Re: DC or Baltimore?

I'd also say DC over Baltimore any day.

Close to the Metro, I'd recommend looking at Alexandria. Has to be Old Town though as the rest of the city of Alexandria is well away from the Metro and...

Re: first trip to UK with new baby

I've just asked a similar question about airlines but we are coming in the other direction :) We will have a toddler when we fly so not quite the same situation as you. Friends who have flown long...

Best transatlantic carrier when traveling with kids

Ok so I have a fair bit of experience of several of the main transatlantic routes and have flown with pretty much all of the major carriers. But our move there in a few months will be the first time...

Re: Child car seats in the US

Wow my original post seemed to have been derailed slightly

My pondering was simply to do with bringing a European car seat into the US and what the exact rules are. In reality I don't think...

Child car seats in the US

This has probably been done before but I'm new on here and am trying to establish what the exact rules are on child car safety seats.

We are moving to the US in a few months. Our son has just...
