Hi, I have setup a private VPN system a few times to access my home server. Best product to use in my opinion is OpenVPN, or configure an Endian firewall. PM me if you would like more details.

The only thing I want to add is make sure that your prospective VPN provider has UK based servers or anything from BBC, ITV, etc.. will not work, due to content restrictions.

Sounds like the connection via the VPN is just not fast enough. Try going to www.speedtest.net and run a speed test to a UK server without your VPN and then try it again with your VPN, if the speed...
