Default Flights to Costa Rica

Hi, I am trying to get a reasonable price flight from the Uk to Costa Rica for next month and getting a lot of conflicting advice.
Have never been there before so its all new.
Any tips would be great as the suggestions I have had range from,
fly to Miami/Houston/New york and then on.
Fly via Canada.
start from elsewhere in Europe, ie Frankfurt or Amsterdam.
Has anyone had any recent experience that they would like to share.
Thanks
Sonia

If you are looking to get to Costa Rica without flying through the US the fastest and cheapest option is to fly Condor (Lufthansa's cheap airline) from Frankfurt to San Jose. As Condor is owned by Lufthansa you should be able to get top Frankfurt from Heathrow easily.

If not then KLM from Ansterdam to Panama, then Panama to San Jose works as well.

thanks for that, but already here in costa rica.
came through the US, never again ! took for ever to get through customs and nearly missed our connecting flight.
If you can ever dodge a transit in the US make sure you do.

Fair enough, glad you made it OK. I know US immigration can be a pain for non US/Canadian citizens.

I think Thompson still fly charters there. If so there are usually good deals on their flight only website. Also try Condor out of Frankfurt

Too true to avoid transit through the US. Apart from it taking forever the attitude of the officials can be quite hurtful and insulting and it is not worth giving them your opinion.
Slightly better option is KLM Amsterdam - Panama but 9+ hours in their tiny economy class seats is a chore.
