Re: VWP and intent to stay - legality

I feel the same way... My friend is convinced that since nothing bad has happened yet, it's a perfectly valid, legal immigration route. When I ask her why she thinks I didn't do it the same way, she...

Re: VWP and intent to stay - legality

Hm, I've been reading that it's essentially immigration fraud to enter on a tourist visa with immigrant intent. He's even been looking for work mid-adjustment which surely isn't allowed (though...

VWP and intent to stay - legality

As I was finishing up my CR-1 process in the spring, a friend of mine got married to a non USC (from Mexico, in Mexico). I told her what the legal procedure was, and warned her about him coming here...

Re: I-130 Filing in USA - Join in here!

I only found that out over at the visajourney forum. I was originally avoiding it because they don't have tons of UK-specific info, but from USCIS through the NVC stage it doesn't really matter...

Re: I-130 Filing in USA - Join in here!

Yeah, calling my congressman/senators worked well for me at the I-130 stage, too. I wish someone on this forum had suggested it to me before I waited 7 months, rather than just telling me to stop...

Re: Visa Processing Fees to Change on April 13, 2012

Then why is the whole I-130 process based on forms submitted by the petitioner (USC)? Immigrant relative visas are definitely a service for US citizens who are trying to bring their relatives to the...

Re: Visa Processing Fees to Change on April 13, 2012

They're not part of the larger congressional budget, sure... but there's a budget at USCIS and NVC, and from my end they certainly seem understaffed!

Re: Visa Processing Fees to Change on April 13, 2012

So with all the government's budget issues, some visa fees are going DOWN? Why would they do that?

Re: post-NVC process

Oh, I meant call NVC to find out your interview date! Assuming you're CR-1/IR-1, NVC sets the interview date before shipping it to the embassy. It's just a normal number, no charge per minute: ...

Re: post-NVC process

I'd be calling at least once a week, if only because it seems plausible that they have the interview date already scheduled but haven't sent out the interview letter yet. Though I guess it doesn't...

Re: My 'arrival in the US on CR-1' story

Thanks for the detailed info about your point of entry process... I actually live in Boulder, so my husband will be going through that exact process at Denver airport! Glad to know it seemed to go...

Re: post-NVC process

It seems to vary in a way that's consistent with I-130 processing time variance. Consistent in the sense that it seems fairly random.

I've been asking around over on the VisaJourney forum and...

Re: Been issued two interview dates in London...

Gotcha, thanks for the information :)

Weird situation with two interview dates... hopefully calling them back will straighten it out?

Re: Been issued two interview dates in London...

Are you doing the CR-1 route? If so, do you mind if I ask how long it took between your NVC case complete and receiving the interview date (if you know)? How many days in advance was your interview...

Re: post-NVC process

Point well taken, though to be honest, I expect to be constantly frustrated by the process either way!

Re: post-NVC process

Congrats!

Yeah, you've got two months on me in this process though... I don't feel like I can wait.

Re: post-NVC process

Our case has been completed at NVC as of Wednesday (yay!) and now we're waiting for the interview date. Of course I called and got the "we only schedule interviews during the second week of each...

Re: post-NVC process

Post completion at NVC. I'm now pretty convinced that it won't delay your interview date... some people going the CR-1 route seem to get away with booking their medical four days before their...

Re: post-NVC process

I'm looking at this page: http://london.usembassy.gov/immigrant-visas/interview.html

Which I think is for all kinds of applications (CR1 & K1, DCF and NVC). I was linked to that page from this...

Re: post-NVC process

Is it best to do this over the phone, or is it the kind of thing where I need to mail in a specific form?

Re: post-NVC process

I did wonder if some of my confusion is a CR1/K1 issue... so NVC schedules the interview, not the consulate, but I should contact the consulate (not NVC) to see if the date can be rescheduled sooner?...

post-NVC process

Hey guys,

I'm almost done with the NVC process... my IV & AOS fees have been accepted and I've sent in the paperwork.

What's the fastest way to get through the next part of the process? Here's...

Re: I-130 Filing in USA - Join in here!

Hey guys,

I'm waiting on my AOS fees to go through so I can send off my i-864... but I'm still stumped about which documents to send as evidence. Here's what I have available:

1. Official tax...

Re: I-130 Filing in USA - Join in here!

So you guys were absolutely right... the online system (and the phone system at USCIS) never updated, but I received the paper version of my NOA2 in the mail yesterday. Thank God. 218 days in the...
