Re: What's Oakville Ontario like?

Yes, be careful of what realtors you use. Make sure they will work for you, not just themselves/sellers. Our buying agent was a nice guy but useless at negotiating a good deal. We used a different...

Re: Advice: Get an UK AMEX card before you leave the UK and avoid HSBC

Agree with Moog. Did it the same in the UK and today I have my second mortgage going through with them soon (got a fantastic rate on the first one - less than ING), got them to waive all account...

If anyone is looking for a house in Burlington, I have a nice "little" 3 bedroom detached home going on MLS with David Meade today.

Re: Moved: Whats St Catherines and the surrounding areas like to live?

Re: Not going now

Ok, maybe I should have clarified as 40 minutes without traffic, 2 hours with. Similar to living in Surrey/Kent etc and driving into London.

Maybe you've got a bigger house than us but, they are...

Re: Not going now

You've got to expect downtown Toronto to be more expensive than elsewhere (even in Canada the major cities cost more for obvious reasons)! Try around $250,000-300,000 for a nice 3 bed detached house...

Re: Not going now

Oh well, maybe I'm lucky but I just love it in Burlington and Ontario.

Great standard of living. Move into the "mansion" on Friday.
Salary is as good as in the UK and goes much further....

Re: Basic living costs for 12 months in Nova Scotia

Having lived in NS before, I'd say that it cost about the same as living in the UK at the end of the day (Ok, you get MUCH better house though), perhaps a bit more with the energy costs.

Re: why is booze so expensive

Still, high prices are due to government fixation of prices in cooperation with the major brewers (they don't want it cheaper!).

Also, ask an LCBO/Beer Store/Liquor Store employee what they get...

Re: New life in Canada - tell me I'm not deluded
